Sonder- The realization that each person is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.
I’ve explained on my about page if you’ve seen it (if not visit this link, https://sonderstateofmind.com/about/ ) but I am posting this as a sort of welcome back, renewed explanation. I will go over where I got the name, why I chose the name, and why it means so much to me.
Sonder State of Mind came about because I had been planning to create a blog as a sort of on the side hobby and platform for me to get my writing out to others. I haven’t been keeping up with posting due to a lot of craziness that has been going on, but I will be trying very hard to start posting more frequently. I have many ideas for future posts including a brand new feature page that I’m super excited to get up and running.
The name: I searched for weeks and weeks to find a name that would suit me. I am a person who needs to find meaning in words. I read poetry, books, and lyrics and pull snippets from all of the above that draw a real meaning from me. One day I was scrolling through google looking at different words and their meanings when I came upon the word Sonder. It struck me as soon as I saw it.
You know that feeling when your palms grow clammy, and your stomach starts churning, and your heart is racing? That’s anxiety. Many people, if not all, go through this sensation at least a couple times in life. What we fail to realize is the fact that EVERYONE has this feeling occasionally, but yet we still feel so alone when it happens. Thus became Sonder State of Mind. It reminds me that even on my bad days, I know that I am not alone, and people DO encounter feelings like this. I am a writer, so words that I come across will obviously draw a deep and meaningful thought from me. I depend on words, and on meanings. Sonder is one of those words that just drew something out of me, and I knew that that had to be it. That had to be incorporated into my domain name.
Where is this blog going?
I’ll keep the answer short and sweet. Forward, and upward. Keep updated through my social media and I hope you’ll stick with me on this journey.
Until next time,
